Richard Roberts completed his MA in Design and Applied Arts (Glass) at Wolverhampton University in 2014 and was later Artist in Residence there in 2015/16. He is based in Walsall, West Midlands and was determined to explore the world of glass after seeing a glass blowing demonstration at the Red House Cone Glass Museum, Stourbridge. He subsequently studied glass at the International Glass Centre, Dudley College, for two years. Although he practised glass blowing initially, he later specialised in creating glass sculptures using kiln casting techniques. These are similar to the metal lost wax process which he has used for many years in his bronze sculptures. He has now returned to glass blowing as his primary practice in glass at Dudley College’s ‘Associateship’ course 2017-2019 and a further module at Wolverhampton University 2019-2020. He also attended a Foundation in Art and Design at High Wycombe Polytechnic and studied a BA Hons in Fine Art Sculpture at the Norwich School of Art.
